A Hub for Climate Innovation and The Heart of Green Fund Africa

Senegal is not only home to groundbreaking climate initiatives but also serves as the official headquarters of The Green Fund Africa. Located in the peri-urban village of Yene, just outside the new Blaise Diagne International Airport, the Senegal office anchors our work across the continent. Led by Director Cheikhou Thiome—a seasoned climate advocate and COP6 youth delegate—the Senegal team brings decades of environmental leadership and youth empowerment experience to the forefront.

Meet the Team

Cheikhou Thiome
Africa Director
Cheikhou Thiome is a Middle School teacher but chose to teach bilingual Grade 3 students at elementary. He Went to Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar and the teacher training school of Cheikh Anta Diop University. Very involved in environmental issues since COP 6 in the Hague. Country representative for several organizations, YES youth entrepreneurship and sustainability, African Views and currently Africa Director at HBCU GREEN FUND. He is now managing the HBCUGF Africa office promoting Steam training for youth and public schools in Yene.
Souleymane Seck
Secretary General
Souleymane Seck is a financier and community development advocate, recognized for his commitment to economic growth and social progress. He currently serves as the Director of MIICIS-Sarl, a company focused on community savings and project support. He is also the Executive Director of the NGO Development & Transformation (DT), where he works to implement impactful projects in the areas of sustainable development and social transformation. As the Secretary General of the HBCU Green Fund Senegal, Souleymane actively contributes to promoting sustainable initiatives and strengthening ties between Africa and HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) in the United States. With expertise combining finance, project management, and community action, Souleymane Seck embodies a strategic vision and deep commitment to inclusive and sustainable development.
