Growing Local Climate Leaders Through Eco-Education
Uganda’s programs are elevating local climate solutions through school gardens, permaculture, and recycling education. These efforts empower youth and educators to build lasting resilience by combining environmental awareness with practical skills in sustainability. Solve & Flourish Africa (SOLFA), with investment support from the Green Fund, leads these community-centered efforts with a focus on environmental education, food security, and long-term economic stability for vulnerable populations.
SOLFA’s work engages orphans, single mothers, and marginalized communities through school-based eco-initiatives and agroecological training. Partner schools host permaculture gardens and eco-clubs that serve as living classrooms, allowing students to explore environmental stewardship hands-on. These spaces also foster leadership and innovation, as students spearhead recycling programs and community cleanups. The organization equips communities with the knowledge, tools, and support needed to build resilience, combat food insecurity, and take ownership of their environmental future.
